FADS AND FASHIONS OF THE 1970's

The '70 changed the way we dressed, danced, and the way we viewed ourselves and our place in the world. The culture of America was drastically changed during the 1970’s. The 1970’s is also remembered for bell bottom jeans, hip huggers, mini skirts, polyester suits, and platform shoes. It was a time of long-haired hippies, flower children, and free love. There were bean bag chairs, mood rings, pet rocks, strobe lights, lava lamps, disco balls, disco dancing and psychedelic colors. The skateboard was invented. www.tqnyc.org

The "Twist" was the most popular dance back in the 60's. People thought it became so popular because it helped them let go of the Cold War tension. Pink Floyd was one of the first bands to play psychedelic music. Long instrumental solos and weird electronic effects were a crazy part of the bands.
